Freedom Food Fridays - Why would you want to be plant based or vegan?
Updated: Feb 16, 2019
At Freedom Flames, we are super passionate about keeping the animals, the planet and ourselves alive!
That's why we follow a plant based diet.
What we eat not only has a massive impact on our health but also the health of the planet. Collectively, we are speedily destroying the planet because of our greed for food that has a huge environmental impact on it...
So what is it and how does it affect us and the environment?
1. MEAT and DAIRY. Yes, it is pretty well known now that avoiding these, is the biggest way to cut down the environmental impact it is causing. Don't be fooled by the "you need cows milk for strong bones and meat for protein" spiel.
Let me tell you....
A cow produces enough milk when she is pregnant, for HER BABY to grow healthily. It was not created with the intent for HUMANS to drink it and for her baby to be taken away from her. There are plenty of alternative milks that taste great and are cruelty free.
2. Despite what is told to us from the big corporations making billions from the meat and dairy industry and the people they pay, we DO NOT need to get protein from meat! There are sooo many plant based sources of protein that are cruelty free, that your body and mind will thank you for. Don't believe the lies!
3. Trees that are cut down for farming land means they are no longer there to remove the carbon dioxide in the air. We BREATH the oxygen that these trees release. WHY would we let this happen?!
5. Majority of you would not go out and kill an animal to eat it, unless maybe if you where dying of hunger. Isn't it interesting that they neatly package it for you, after slaughtering it, so that you don't have to think about it. Seriously, increasing your fruit and veg intake and swapping to plant based protein could reduce the risk of a huge amount of diseases and early deaths.
Without a fully functioning and supportive world, human survival looks pretty bleak. Let's start reversing the huge impact we have already made on destroying it. This means keeping the forests in tact and the animals in tact. Not to mention the fish who have enormous nutrient impacts on the marine eco system. Without them the ocean would die and most likely that'll see the extinction of humans. What?! Does this not blow your mind that we continue to destroy what keeps us alive?!
So what can we do individually?
